Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Live coverage includes text commentary for Sunday's games via various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage is available through select stations covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).
It's week six of the NFL season and following recent discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being possible championship contenders, each lost their unbeaten records.
Notable during those contests was the amount of infractions each committed. Philadelphia did so in key moments meaning they kind of defeated themselves having led 17-3 entering the final quarter versus Denver, who play in London this Sunday.
However it proved positive to observe that Denver's QB the rookie was able to overcome that deficit before lead three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, to win the victory 21-17.
The Broncos have the defensive player of the year with CB their star corner. They are first in goal-line defense, whereas the Eagles are number one in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos won that contest.
They executed the Eagles' number regarding simulated pressure. They weren't always sending more than four pass rushers instead they might position two linebackers in the interior then withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel from the outside.
At the start of the season, it was noted during a show how Denver might emerge as the current year's surprise contenders. They ended last season strongly and did a good job in continuing that momentum.
Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?
Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has excelled significantly and new RB their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks 5th league-wide in ground gains (over 400) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
It's impressive how head coach Sean Payton has "RUSH!" at the top on his call sheet.
This demonstrates that the Broncos represent a squad that wants to run first, since one can do a lot off the back of that. It reduces opposing rushes while maintains in positive down and distances.
It's also benefited QB Bo Nix, who came into the league as the 12th overall draft pick last year, passing for 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 back in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to throw all over, but they lack the mobility as Nix. He has incredible passing ability, which is different, plus he is so athletic.
His strengths are his movement, the capacity to pass while moving, as well as using varied release points to deliver the pass as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He is able to deliver precision throws over the middle or past defenders.
As a rookie QB, at 25, he's got a lot of composure under pressure and is not really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to evade being tackled whenever possible and can throw in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and is very decisive.
When you consistently run the ball it eats up the clock and forces the opponent to be on the field extended periods, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defense must defend the area vertically side to side. It can be exhausting.
The quarterback has bitten back with the coach on the sideline sometimes and I think the coach appreciates that attitude, seeing him as such a competitor. In my view it's fun for the coach to have a rookie QB that is kind of like play-dough. The coach can truly develop him the way he desires to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.
Payton has won a championship and now surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed everything. I think the success the Broncos are experiencing offensively is mostly down to his guidance, his play-calling, his game sense – and the combination with the QB aids shape him into who he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to assist you through difficult moments and boost self-belief.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they strong enough to go against an elite team at full strength? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.
Right now, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're working above average, that's a solid position to be in their division. All they need to do is maintain this path.
They're really good at embracing their forte, that is running the ball, and that's precisely what they must do versus the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.
The Jets have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five ground scores this season (10th worst), and they are the sole squad yet to win a game.
Since the league started recording turnovers decades ago, the Jets are the first team to go without a single takeaway through five games, this is surprising when you think that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.
Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.
Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a smooth-ish schedule up to their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.
In the AFC West, Kansas City hold a losing record while Denver are tied with the Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could make a run at leading the division.
This hinges on what version of the Chiefs they meet because Denver {beat|def
