Two Victims Identified in the Providence Campus Attack as Authorities Press On With Search for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in the weekend's tragic incident in Providence had tributes paid to them on Monday – as a manhunt for their assailant continued following the freeing by authorities in Rhode Island of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

She served as second-in-command of Brown’s division of College Republicans of America, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also expressed condolences online, stating: “There are no words. Keeping in mind her loved ones and companions, especially her parents.”

The Second Victim

The second fatality was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his initial year at the renowned school, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a tribute.

The Shooting Incident

An additional nine individuals were injured in Saturday’s attack in the engineering department of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male arrested in a police operation at a Hampton Inn about around 27 kilometers from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“A perpetrator remains free,” stated the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you need to change course and go in another, and that is the current situation over the last 24 hours or so.”

Community Anxiety

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “This will probably generate fresh anxiety for our public”.

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a lecture hall in the building on Saturday afternoon, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm pistol, a law enforcement official informed the Associated Press.

Law enforcement that raided the hotel seized a pair of pistols and magazines when the individual was arrested, as was reported.

Those Hurt

Regarding the nine injured, one pupil was allowed to go home, said Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in grave but unchanging health, and one remained in critical care, authorities stated on Sunday.

An educational institution, a private academy in Durham, North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

More Condolences

Cook was remembered at a church service in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only here growing up... but at Brown she was a shining example in that institution as well.”

A group leader, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the club. “She was famed for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she served her chapter and other students,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by Umurzokov’s death in a tribute. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to Mr Umurzokov’s family, friends, and fellow students and grieve for of his potential.”
