Toronto Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Meeting Versus the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer contributed to the Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their initial Fall Classic after 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the AL Championship Series.

Behind three runs to one, Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh inning, guiding the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series triumph in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the reigning title, in the upcoming championship.

"It's incredible for everyone here, Toronto, the nation," commented Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "What an amazing experience."

Springer has now slugged 23 October home runs, placing him third in history trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of another person anywhere that I want up in that spot besides George Springer with his October magic," remarked Schneider.

Seattle's team, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the one club yet to make an appearance in a World Series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it's painful" following his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we had to come out on the wrong side of the series," he continued.

Toronto won the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the first game on Friday.
