Tom Clancy's The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG

The intense world of Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership was established to create a tabletop RPG that explores the series' apocalyptic landscape. The project was revealed, with a funding drive scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026.

"This endeavor will bring the franchise’s distinctive tension, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the table, offering fans a new way to engage with The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," states an official release.

Initial offerings are set to feature a starter set, essential manuals, a GM screen, figurines, and various deluxe editions.

Exploring The Division's Dystopian World

In this universe, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was unleashed in NYC, plunging the nation into chaos. As the pandemic escalates, society crumbles and hostile groups emerge, turning the city into a battlefield. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of undercover operatives. This is where the players come in.

Development on the RPG has been in progress for approximately three years, and it is reportedly complete. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a pre-launch sales platform to access a broader audience, particularly in the United States. Manufacturing is slated to begin immediately following the fundraiser, with shipping expected for the latter part of 2026.

A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the system reveals it employs 10-sided dice exclusively through its proprietary GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and strategic approach. Players use skills or traits to assemble a handful of dice, typically between one and five d10s.

  • Instead of summing the total, participants select a single “resolution die” from the group.
  • This die is then compared against a target difficulty.
  • Achieving a natural 10 grants additional bonuses, such as extra damage or enhanced aid.

Combat Focus On Tactical Placement and Awareness

Fights stress positioning and environmental awareness, mirroring the source material. Factors like taking cover, height advantage, or line of sight directly influence dice rolls. This system seems built to favor teamwork and clever tactics over raw numbers.

A Novel Wound Mechanic

The way health is tracked introduces a compelling thematic twist. Agents have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits weakens their capabilities by decreasing the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an agent is downed, but is not unconscious.
  2. They can still crawl and take limited actions, simulating the last stand common to video game shooters.
  3. Any player knocked down must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining persistent effects like trauma or mobility-impairing wounds.

A Ready-to-Play Adventure

A free introductory rulebook will be released in the near future. It includes a pre-made introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players lead the hunt for a missing medical team and work to stop an attack by the violent Rikers faction, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the complete product lineup are expected to be unveiled closer to the campaign launch.
