The Popular Show Season Four Unveils the Soldiers Table

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of characters who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The traitor then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants retribution.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the region and advises that it is a hostile place.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their position as key figures in House Halovar could enable the party reach places they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character swore a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.

This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

From episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Explorers and Planners tables.

Fans can look forward to learning which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
