The former Liverpool manager says coming back to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, remarked that returning someday remains something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-year spell which brought Champions League success and ending the club's long wait for three decades, currently occupies positions overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and as an advisor to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won England's top flight in the previous campaign, but many fans holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the idea that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to the podcast host: “I said I won't manage any other side within the country. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“I’m 58, that means I might decide down the line, I don’t know. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. Luckily, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on which situations would have to unfold to tempt his return to the dugout, Klopp admitted he isn't eager for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; No desire to be during downpours through long matches; I'm glad to skip interviews multiple times weekly or constant media duties a week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, however, dining out with the players enjoying conversation, is pleasant. We won a lot of games so there was often great spirits around the place. Remaining with me is Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

He commended for his successor, acknowledging his role due to the changes that won the league in the previous season. The team has suffered four in a row across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the idea that it might signal a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, excellent performer. This is a well-built balanced team. No need for concern about Liverpool, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

The manager expressed deep feeling about the death of Jota, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, along with the consequences for the team. Jota was killed in a vehicle collision alongside his brother in July.

“Who can fill the void of such an individual? It’s not about his footballing ability, it's his character. I can’t imagine the dressing room missing him. I still cannot speak properly about it. A devastating blow for all the boys too. No one within the club would cite it to justify results though it's a fact. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Dealing with that on a personal level is not easy. Impossible.”
