Renowned Performer Pat Finn, Famed For Appearances in Seinfeld and The Middle, Passes Away at Age 60.

US entertainer Finn, who featured in iconic television series like Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles recently after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, as reported by news outlets.

"Pat Finn never met a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones said in a announcement.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific Television Career

His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he played the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a host famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous well-known programs, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.

His work in movies encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Outside of his television work, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired countless students during his career and it would be difficult to find anyone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted publicly.

The actor is leaves behind his wife Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
